Anstruther Fish Bar

by Susan

Yummy! Fish'n'Chips!

Yummy! Fish'n'Chips!

We've had a takeaway from what I think they call the famous chippie - its won lots of awards and you can sit in or take away. It was great, as most of the chippies in these wee fishing villages are. They had a number of different things on the menu from our usual chippie and certainly worth a visit.

Fish and Chip heaven!
by: Suzie

We also love this famous chippy's fish suppers and make the journey about once a month all year round. However, I'm a bit concerned that the photo you have posted of a fish supper is definitely not an Anstruther Fish Bar one!! Beware of the other two imposters in town who regularly dupe tourists into believing they are the famous one! Anyway, well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Best outside
by: Edwyn

Agree with this chippie - The fish supper is best eaten outside by the quay listening to the gentle clanging of the boats masts and the chatter of the gulls.

As also mentioned there are many other great chippies in Fife. One in particular I would mention is in the town of Leven, cant remember the name of it, but it's right next to the bus station. Only a small fish n chip shop but worth a visit and a sit down meal. A word of warning ask for a small portion unless you are very hungry!

Totally agree!

Hi Susan
Well, I absolutely agree with you. It's a real treat going down to Anstruther and having the famous Fish'n'Chips. I think this is something every visitor to Fife should try at least once.
