Bonnie Venachar

by Frank Maguire
(England)

Loch Venachar

Loch Venachar

By the banks of bonnie Venachar
Where still the waters run
And all the flowers sway in time
Till every day is done
Where peace and such tranquillity
Prevails relentlessly
By the banks of bonnie Venachar
Is where I long to be

By the banks of bonnie Venachar
Where the lark and linnet fly
And sing their songs of love so sweet
As they glide so far and high
Where redemption and salvation
Waits to welcome one and all
By the banks of bonnie Venachar
How I beckon to her call

By the banks of bonnie Venachar
Where the hillside meets the dale
And the air is filled with innocence
Be it breeze or howling gale
Where silence speaks so loud and clear
To the flora and the fawn
By the banks of bonnie Venachar
I feel so very drawn

By the banks of bonnie Venachar
Where such beauty is abound
And all is just so perfect
Every sight and every sound
Where someday soon I will return
To this place I love the best
By the banks of bonnie Venachar
I will lay me down to rest
