Butterfly Butterfly

by Frank Maguire
(England)

Butterfly butterfly, greeting the morn
As the sun, it is melting the dew
Her beauty divine
And forever to shine
Like her colour, of crimson and blue

Butterfly butterfly, dancing in time
To the wind, as it blows a slight breeze
Such a queen of the sky,
And she’s destined to fly
On the wing, with such elegant ease

Butterfly butterfly, falling in love
With a boy, who is passing her way
How they cuddle and kiss
On a morning like this
As the flowers, all giggle and sway

Butterfly butterfly, bidding farewell
As she leaves, with her love that she’s found
The flowers all cheer
From afar, and from near
As the butterfly’s, head homeward bound
