Coming into the Kingdom

Coming into the Kingdom

Coming into the Kingdom

I took this photograph in May 2007 as I returned from a trip to Paris via Belgium on the overnight Superfast Ferry. It really is the only way to travel!

It's quite an experience sailing up the Firth of Forth, with Edinburgh on one side and the Kingdom of Fife on the other. It was a gorgeous clear day and I could identify all the villages along the Fife coast. If you're going to do this trip - do take your binoculars. It's quite something as you pass some of the islands such as Inchcolm Abbey, where you can see the seals sunbathing.

Going under the impressive (and famous) Rail Bridge is amazing, and although the road bridge is not as old as the rail bridge it still takes the breath away as you pass beneath it.

I know that when some foreign naval ships such as US Aircraft carriers or large liners or cruise ships come in, they have to pick their timing very carefully to when the tide is low, otherwise they can't get under the bridge.

Awesome!
by: May

I've done this trip - and it is just so awesome coming under both bridges.

I love the way you've captured this. Makes me feel another trip to Bruges (or Paris) is due soon.

Thanks for sharing it.
