Inverness

by rachael
(Philadelphia, pa, usa)

I am planning my first trip to scotland in a year. I want to experience Scotland scenery to the fullest effect. What time of year do the leaves peak in color in Inverness? I also was wondering when the hills of heather will be the most visually appealing.

In addition, If I were to stay in mainly the Inverness area, how long would it take to travel to the Isle of Skye?

I want this to be a headache-free experience, so I'm doing as much research as possible.
Thanks,
Rachael Mackay

Inverness to Skye
by: jennifer

Hi Rachael

The drive from Inverness to Skye is beautiful however it might take as long as 2 hours to go across country. After the Five Sisters in Kintail the roads are narrow and lots have more sheep on them than traffic. Driving on the island itself where the roads are much better may take you another hour depending on where you are going. A camera is a must.

Inverness in Autumn
by: Jansen

Inverness is beautiful in October. The trees are covered in red and yellows. But in September is when the trees start to turn.
