It's Still Ma Land..Right?

by Hellon
(Australia)

In the gloamin' time a sit here
jist tae ponder an' reflect
creatures thit hiv come an' gone
tae the smallest wee insect.

Beasties freely lived here...now
thur hames ur raped wance mair
be it a bonnie bank, a meandurin' glen
it's wrang...it isnae fair.

Pilaged by the greed o' man
frigid forests ston in fright
the laverock it sings nae mere
lang since he's takin' flight.

Aye, lochs an' burns still flow a ken
bit the fishes they ur few
polution ozzed right intae them
now they're almost barren too.

In the gloamin' time a sit here
jist tae ponder an' reflect
whit will happen tae ma land
if man nae longer hawds respect.

Very well written, poignant, and a keen reminder to us all.
