Lomond Tavern, Falkland

by Katie
(Nr Falkland)

Lomond Tavern, Falkland

Lomond Tavern, Falkland

The Lomond Tavern is a wee gem of a place in Falkland, Fife, just a short walk from the Palace, in a little side street called 'Horsemarket'. My husband and I pop in now and again for a bite to eat.

It's a nice traditional Scottish pub with paintings of William Wallace and King Robert the Bruce on the walls in the cosy lounge. A main course is under £5 and a three course meal, costs less than £10. They have a standard menu with daily specials, such as roast beef, roast port, salads, lasagne etc. The portions are huge and it's well worth a visit, and if you order coffee - you get a plate of biscuits too. Great value for money.

No Card Facilities
by: peter muir

Having decided to visit the lomond tavern for the first time we thought we would take a chance and not book. When we arrived there were no tables available which was just as well because on the way out we noticed a small notice on the door which informs you that they do not accept credit or debit cards which if we had to managed to order a meal it would have been very embarassing when it came time to pay the bill so be warned .This is also a very poor advert fo a tourist area in this day and age.

Having llived in Fife all my life, I had not heard of The Lomond Tavern until my friend suggested it for dinner.

What a fantastic place, great value for money, huge portions and we even took part in the pub quiz (and we came last).

We were made to feel very welcome, as if we were local.

I would advise booking as there is a limited number of tables available. Lovely atmosphere.

Will be returning in the near future.

Best Value Night Out in the Area
by: AL

Brilliant little pub. Friendly crowd, excellent value food & cheap drinks. It's my new local... I just have to drive 300 miles for a great night out.

Great fodder
by: Edwyn

Amazing portions and veg so fresh and so cheap! The whole pub is very friendly and relaxing despite its internal limitations. Well worth a visit but it might be a good idea to book at the weekends.

I totally Agree!

My husband John and I also eat in the Lomond Tavern regularly. The Landlords are very pleasant and friendly. There's not very many tables and it can get very busy at the weekends especially in the summer, so it's best to book.

But the food is good, and the portions are large, and it's amazing value for money.

Lomond Tavern
by: Robbie Kennedy Bennett

I spent a couple of hours in Falkland in April of this year. I took a photo from the same viewpoint. Half a minute later the landlord approached me and gave me a couple of postcards of the pub. 'How friendly' I thought. It was a shame the Tavern wasn't yet open before I made my journey back home. Falkland was lovely oh aye!
