Scottish Heritage

I am in college and one of my assignments that I am working on is in Diversity and World Cultures. I chose mine on my Scottish heritage which I relate to more than my Irish side. I know that the first ancestor to come to America with his family was Stephen (Steven) F. Caudle (Caudle). Would you know the name or what Clan they come from? I would like to visit Scotland some day to trace my heritage.
