Why was this road name Cuddy House Road?

Editor's Answer

I have no idea, I'm afraid. But maybe one of our visitors will have an answer to this. Interesting name though! Hope someone else can give you an answer. I shall be watching with baited breath.

Cuddy Road
by: Bill Kilpatrick

60 plus years ago I walked from Old Perth road to Kingseat [and back] with my Grandfather who knew this walk simply as The Cuddy Road. At the time only horse drawn traffic used this road and I have always assumed this is how it got its name. I am afraid I have never heard it called Cuddy House Road as if my memory serves me correctly there were no houses ajoining the road - only a few farm buildings set well back. I hope this is of some help to you.
