This Lonely Night

by Frank Maguire
(England)

As he sits alone this lonely night
His thoughts are far away
Of when he held his true love tight
In a long gone yesterday

Her smile and sparkling eyes of blue
Are so etched upon his mind
With a longing he will always rue
And thus cannot leave behind

He wonders if come eventide
Her thoughts are old and new
Beside her lonely fireside
Of his smile and eyes of blue

He hopes that safe and well is she
With a peace of mind to keep
That her eyes still sparkle endlessly
And her love for him so deep

How do you do it?
by: May

Hi Frank
Just wondering how you manage to write such lovely romantic poems. Another wee treasure. Thanks again Frank.
