Collessie, I walked your peaceful lanes in springtime,
Time stood still as I walked your lanes in springtime.
Flowers in their beds not long from birth,
Planted with care in God’s pure earth.
Collessie, I walked your peaceful lanes in springtime.
I rested a while by the Kirk yard wall,
The square tower and spire, standing tall.
Collessie, I walked your peaceful lanes in springtime.
Thatched cottage buildings made by hand,
And weavers’ homes they still stand.
The handlooms that once would echo around,
It’s different now for I hear no sound.
Collessie, I walked your peaceful lanes in springtime.
Time stood still as I walked your lanes in springtime.
I rested a while by the Kirk yard wall,
The square tower and spire, standing tall.
High in the Kirk is a view to behold,
In weavers’ homes, are there stories to be told?
Collessie, I walked your peaceful lanes in springtime.
