The Cage

The Cage

to Robert Blair

I wear a cage
in myself
in a changing rhythm
of life and death
silent space overwhelms
in a world
full of countless doors
nothing was like I thought
stairs without exit
everywhere

Brilliance is fleeting while your silence whispers to a lent ear.
I sob with each twinkle your eyes endear.
